Abstract

Halal food industy has been growing and playing significant role to the Muslim community, not only in this country but also worldwide. Such development that leads to halal certification and halal management certification are getting more attention and becoming area of research focus among the halal management’s scholars and practitioners. There is a claim that suggests theoritical gaps in prior literatures is a manifestation of lack of understanding and development theory in this field. This conceptual paper aims to fill part of the discussion by focusing on environmental pressure through institutional theory perspective in halal certification management studies. Continuous research whether conceptual or empirical studies should be continued to discuss more issues related to the implementation of the theory in the halal industry, particularly in the aspects of halal certification management.
